Adventure #8 : Cutthroats of Crawling Bog (Yes, again....but encounters are different)

Difficulty: Level 1
The king's soldiers are protecting the wealthy merchants and nobles on the High Road, but bandits still prey on the common folk. The scoundrels hide from the soldiers in Crawling Bog, a sucking swamp so notorious for the dangerous plants and monsters that live there that the soldiers dare not enter. It's time someone brought the bandits to justice.

Roaming One found tracks that led into the fetid swamps -- the thieves must have gone that way.
Encounter 1: Swamp
Hacking his way through the reeds, he accidentally stumbled right into a pack of kobold skirmishers.
Roaming One made a Charisma check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 19
Hoping to scare them off quickly, he raised his Mace high and shouted a few meaningless arcane words in his most authoritative voice. The kobolds panicked and scattered, several plowing into each other in their rush to escape. They dropped some things in their hurried exit.
Roaming One received 55 XP and 8 gold.
Roaming One received a Dagger.
Encounter 2: Swamp
To say the size of the giant rat Roaming One faced off against was unusual would be an understatement. Most townsfolk would never believe such a large rodent could exist. Nevertheless it had come thundering through the roots and brambles and was now smack in front of him with its teeth bared.
Roaming One made an Attack Bonus check with a difficulty of 13 . . . and rolled 24
Roaming One almost had a hard time taking the rat seriously as he crushed it with his mace.
Roaming One received 60 XP and 15 gold.
Roaming One gained a level!
Encounter 3: Swamp
While wading waist deep through a particularly sloppy patch of water in the swamp, Roaming One was startled by a nearby splash and an unpleasant sensation of being bitten in the thigh.
Roaming One made an Armor Class check with a difficulty of 25 . . . and rolled 22
His armor was not quite strong enough, and it took several violent attacks with his Mace to get the alligator off him. Back on shore, Roaming One applied some first aid before moving on.
Roaming One took 5 damage.
Roaming One received 16 XP.
Encounter 4: Swamp
While slogging along in the swamp, Roaming One came upon a strange looking patch of wet sand.
Roaming One made a Wisdom check with a difficulty of 9 . . . and rolled 4
Thinking nothing of it, Roaming One stomped right on through -- only to find himself waist deep in quicksand! Roaming One knew better than to panic and get himself further mired. He relaxed and tried to float. Luckily another adventurer happened along, threw Roaming One a rope, and pulled him to safety.
Roaming One received 16 XP.
Encounter 5: Swamp
After a long afternoon of adventuring, Roaming One came across a family and their wagon stuck deep in the mud. They were moving to the city because the father had gotten a new job in a prominent guild.
Roaming One made a Strength check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 22
He braced himself and, with a mighty heave, freed the wagon and pushed it to a drier patch of road. The family was grateful that they had escaped the swamp before night fell. They gave Roaming One a gift for helping them on their way.
Roaming One received 46 XP and 14 gold.
Roaming One received a Holy Symbol.
Roaming One rounded a corner and was confronted by a camp filled with bandits. He steeled himself for the fight ahead.
Encounter 6: Final Encounter
The bandit lord accepted Roaming One's challenge to single combat!
Roaming One made an Armor Class check with a difficulty of 26 . . . and rolled 32
Roaming One easily dodged the bandit lord's attacks and quickly subdued him, humiliating him in front of his band of thieves. Roaming One was hailed as a hero when he returned the village's meager treasures.
Roaming One received 125 XP and 30 gold.
Roaming One received a Potion of Will.
Having successfully completed the adventure, Roaming One headed home to rest.
