by john Email

Yes, Some adventures will took more then once. Every adventure would have different encounters, and different results. Since Roaming One was still level 1, took level 2 jobs was not a good idea at this time. So I took the same mission at adventure #3.

Difficulty: Level 1

The villagers are recovering from fending off a werewolf attack. The beast was slain, but its blood frenzy still possesses the injured villagers each full moon. Someone must travel through Felltooth Wood to find the legendary Mirror Lake of Felltooth Mountain. There blessed wolfsbane grows in the spray of the Singing Falls. It's the only cure!

Curse of the Wolf Moon

Follow up:

Collecting the herbs will require a long trek -- through the forest, across a mountain pass, and finally to Mirror Lake. Roaming One best get started!

Encounter 1: Forest

Roaming One was growing quite hungry and decided to throw a balanced stick at a rabbit as he had been taught to do by his uncle.

Roaming One made a Dexterity check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 6

It was more difficult than Roaming One remembered it being and, after a great many wild misses, he gave up. As his stomach grumbled, he tried to convince himself that rabbits have very gamey meat anyway.

Roaming One took 8 damage.
Roaming One gets -3 Constitution for 2 encounters.
Roaming One received 25 XP.

Encounter 2: Forest (Traps)

Roaming One was following a trail through the woods when his foot was violently yanked out from under him. His body followed, and he was suddenly upside down, swaying back and forth from a tree branch. Then goblins with big sticks emerged from the woods.

Roaming One made an Armor Class check with a difficulty of 26 . . . and rolled 24

The goblins took turns trying to smash Roaming One with sticks while cackling jokes to each other. They were quite successful too, which did not feel good to Roaming One. Eventually, he reached out with his Rusty Dagger and stabbed one of the goblins in the face. Their tone instantly changed and they scurried away from their dangerous prey. This gave Roaming One plenty of time to free himself.

Roaming One took 8 damage.
Roaming One received 20 XP and 6 gold.

Roaming One crossed into the mountain pass, and his progress slowed.

Encounter 3: Mountain

Roaming One approached an old man guarding a rickety bridge spanning a deep ravine. The old man refused to let Roaming One pass until he answered a riddle.

Roaming One made an Intelligence check with a difficulty of 15 . . . and rolled 19

Roaming One tricked the old man into answering his own riddle incorrectly -- which sent the old man flying into the gorge by the power of his own magic. Roaming One strolled easily across the bridge.

Roaming One received 64 XP.

Roaming One gained a level! Now he's level 2!

Encounter 4: Mountain

Roaming One encountered a sad looking shepherd in the mountain pass who told him that he had lost his magic sheep.

Roaming One made a Wisdom check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 2

Not wishing to bother with such an obviously preposterous story, Roaming One moved on.

Roaming One received 16 XP.

Finally, Roaming One arrived at Mirror Lake, where the herbs were known to grow.

Encounter 5: Lake

A dire toad may sound comical but, to the fishermen it's been eating, not so much. The fisher's guild was offering a reward to anyone who could slay the beast.

Roaming One made an Attack Bonus check with a difficulty of 14 . . . and rolled 14

Roaming One, dagger in hand, waited in ambush until the huge toad came into view. The battle was over in a flash, a single blow was all it took to end the amphibious reign of terror.

Roaming One received 55 XP and 2 gold.
Roaming One received a suit of Chainmail.

Encounter 6: Lake (Magic)

Roaming One came across a caravan that had made camp at the side of the lake. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but there was something not quite right about the scene . . .

Roaming One made a Charisma check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 6

Roaming One was convinced to have a meal with the travelers, but felt incredibly drowsy after eating and drinking. He fought off sleep as long as he could, but eventually collapsed. When Roaming One woke up, there was no sign of the mysterious caravan except for the silver goblet in his hand.

Roaming One received 20 XP and 4 gold.

Encounter 7: Lake

A centaur lounging at the side of the lake called Roaming One over and offered to share his food and drink.

Roaming One made a Constitution check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 8

Try though Roaming One might, the centaur's appetite seemed limitless, and the fact that Roaming One couldn't keep up seemed to offend him. The centaur left in a huff. Roaming One, narrowly avoiding combat, kept the supplies the centaur left behind.

Roaming One received 22 XP.
Roaming One received a Mace.

Encounter 8: Final Encounter

With a name like Singing Falls, Roaming One expected a cute little waterfall, not the two-hundred-yard wide, thirty-yard-high monstrosity thundering down before him. The blessed wolfsbane was there, growing on a rock protruding from the water right in front of the center of the falls. There were a lot of sharp rocks in front of the falls, actually, making a swimming approach too dangerous.

Roaming One made a Strength check with a difficulty of 13 . . . and rolled 24

Roaming One walked under the waterfall and got pounded by the water. It seemed the only reasonable path even though the rocks were wet and slippery and the water punishing. Roaming One's athletic prowess was up to the task and he was able to retrieve the wolfsbane. He proudly returned with it and saved the village. They will forever know him as a hero, and of course, rewarded him greatly.

Roaming One received 130 XP and 29 gold.
Roaming One received a pair of Burglar's Gloves.

Having successfully completed the adventure, Roaming One headed home to rest.
